Callypso Lillis is a siren carrying a bracelet of black beads, each one marking a favor owed to the Bargainer. Seven years after he disappeared from her life, the Bargainer returns to collect and asks for her help investigating missing fae warriors and women returned under horrifying circumstances.
The novel moves between Callie's teenage past and the present, gradually revealing how her debt and attachment to Desmond Flynn developed. Their banter and unresolved history give the romance strong momentum, while the supernatural mystery keeps the reunion from becoming the entire plot.
The central relationship is magnetic, but the past timeline includes a substantial age and power imbalance that may trouble some readers. The pace also gives Callie and Des far greater attention than the supporting cast or the rules of the Otherworld.
Rhapsodic is an atmospheric start to The Bargainer series, mixing second-chance romance, fae politics, debt magic, danger, and a heroine whose voice can compel others.
